Jersey’s government funds Finistair trial flights
The French carrier operated an eight-week pilot route from June to August, connecting Jersey and Alderney with Brest in Brittany, France. The trial, a collaborative effort between the governments of Jersey and Alderney, was later extended by two additional weeks, running into mid-September.
The Economic Development department disclosed the financial support in response to a written question from St Brelade Deputy Jonathan Renouf regarding funding for air routes. The initiative aimed to strengthen cultural, social, and economic links between the Channel Islands and Brittany.
When the route was announced, Deputy Kirsten Morel, Jersey’s minister for sustainable economic development, said he hoped the Finistair service would draw new visitors to Jersey. He stated, “We've invested in this trial to help us assess the appetite for a longer-term service between the islands and France. We hope it will boost both cultural and economic connections with our near neighbours.”
