Trump Backs “Anti-Weaponization” Fund for Alleged Government Abuses

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump has voiced support for a proposed $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund, saying it could provide financial relief to individuals he believes were harmed by politically motivated actions carried out by government institutions.

Speaking in an interview broadcast on Sunday, Trump said, “Me personally, I think the weaponization fund is a great idea, and so do many of the Republicans.”

According to Trump, the initiative would establish a mechanism for examining individual claims and determining whether compensation should be awarded to people who were allegedly targeted by government officials for political reasons.

The president argued that certain actions by federal authorities under the previous administration had severe consequences for affected individuals. He claimed that some people suffered devastating personal and financial losses, including the breakdown of families, loss of employment, and damage to their livelihoods.

Trump further alleged that government conduct in some cases had contributed to tragic outcomes, including suicides, while asserting that individuals had been imprisoned despite having committed no wrongdoing.

“They've sent people to jail who did nothing wrong,” he claimed.

Criticizing some of those involved in past investigations, Trump referred to them as “thugs” and “dirty cops” and accused them of carrying out what he described as a “fake weaponization of government.”

The proposed fund, according to Trump, is intended to address cases in which individuals believe they were unfairly targeted through the misuse of governmental authority.
