Minister Maropene Ramokgopa leads national webinar on introduction of Femicide Review Methodology Pilot in South Africa, 28 Aug

The Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Ms Maropene Ramokgopa, will lead a national webinar on the introduction of the Femicide Review Methodology Pilot in South Africa as part of government's efforts to strengthen evidence-informed responses to Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).

The Femicide Review Methodology Pilot draws on international best practice and is being adapted to the South African context to support learning, prevention and improved coordination across sectors.

The webinar which will be hosted by the Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) in partnership with the Pan-African Collective for Evidence (PACE), will introduce a multi-stakeholder approach to reviewing femicide cases with the aim of identifying systemic gaps, strengthening accountability and improving policy and institutional responses.

The webinar will provide a platform for government, civil society, researchers, development partners and practitioners to reflect on South Africa's ongoing efforts to combat GBVF and to consider mechanisms through which evidence can be used to prevent future loss of life.

The webinar will be held under the theme, Remembering Lives Lost. Building Systems That Save Lives, to recognise the lives that have been lost to femicide while focusing attention on the collective responsibility of society and institutions to strengthen systems that can prevent violence and protect women and girls.
