UNESCO partners with the government to officiate the 12th UNESCO AEW and 10th AEC
The 2026 edition was held under the theme “Engineering Africa’s Inclusive, Innovative, and Sustainable Future”, focusing on the role of engineering in addressing Africa’s development challenges and supporting inclusive and sustainable growth. Discussions covered engineering education and skills development, innovation and emerging technologies, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, sustainable infrastructure, climate resilience, gender equality and youth participation in engineering.
The 2026 edition brought together more than 300 participants from 28 countries across Africa and other regions, representing governments, engineering organizations, academia, industry and international institutions and provided a platform for policy dialogue, technical exchange, professional development, networking and the sharing of engineering solutions and good practices.
