Israeli Strike Kills Palestinian Government Workers in Gaza Despite Ceasefire
According to the office, the attack hit a work site operated by the Economy Ministry in the al-Mawasi area, west of Rafah, killing four government employees and leaving 30 people wounded.
Earlier reports on Wednesday indicated that three Palestinians had been killed and 15 injured in the strike on the same facility.
The Gaza government media office described the attack as “a new crime and a horrific massacre,” saying it targeted civilian public-sector workers while they were performing their official duties.
The employees had been inspecting goods entering Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing to verify their suitability for use and prevent the smuggling of drugs and other prohibited materials, the statement said.
The office accused Israel of pursuing an “organized campaign by Israel to undermine government institutions and push the territory toward chaos and lawlessness,” arguing that attacks on government teams and civilian employees were intended to weaken public institutions.
The strike occurred amid what the office described as repeated Israeli breaches of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on Oct. 10, 2025.
According to the statement, Israeli violations since the agreement began have killed 1,568 Palestinians and injured another 5,648.
Since the war in Gaza began in October 2023, more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 175,000 wounded, while destruction has affected approximately 90% of the enclave’s civilian infrastructure.
